More Coaches commit to the FA Youth Award

The FA Youth Award is the very latest in youth coaching innovation. This new course encourages coaches to understand as much about their young players as they do about the game. As coaches, we often spend a lot of time focusing on training drills, fixtures and match days . Wouldn’t it be great if we stepped back from all that and looked at each of our young players individually.

Well done to Vinny and Steve our first coaches achieving the 4 day Module 1 award, and Well done to Nick Hughes Under 9B coach who has also just completed the next stage 4 day Module 2 Award .Want to know more click here

A Message from our Chairman
Pickwick Youth Football club chairman
I can finally confirm that the U18s have now also finished as runners up in the U18 league to add to being Portsmouth Challenge Cup winners. This has been the best season for Pickwick Youth so far with multiple cup winners, division winners, runners up in divisions, it will be a hard act to follow next season, we should all be very proud of what our club has achieved this season, and the continuing progress this club has made since achieving Charter Standard status. And to add to the success so far we are now about to have a new and bigger venue for our tournament, and at present the tournament will have more entrants than last year, with more teams entering from outside Portsmouth this year

Everton youth tournament 30/5/2010

Under 16A and Under 18's Portsmouth Cup Winners
3rd May 2010 - Report from Simon Smith Under 16A manager

pickwick under 16 A challenge cup winners 2010After coming to terms with being 4 players down for the Cup Final we arrived at our venue to find a less than ideal playing surface and the weather blowing a gale.  It was a hard fought match. We started the first half with the wind behind us and after some fantastic teamwork we scored with an absolute superb strike.  The second half was a stuggle against the wind but we still  created goalscoring chances, the last few minutes were a bit hairy, but the team pulled together and battled to keep a clean sheet and win the match 0-1

Pickwick Under 18A 2 Horndean Hawks 1 Pick under 18 Challenge cup winners 2010

Playing straight after the 16's both teams started nervously struggling with the wind our under 18's where lucky not to go 1-0 up in the opening 5 mins but for the heroics of the Hawks keeper. As the half went on the teams settled down and Pickwick went 1-0 up to the jubilance of the crowd. Second half saw more fine saves from Hawks keeper and with additional pressure on our goal mouth Hawks scored. A rallying cry from captain Joe Scott saw Pickwick score straight from Kick off. Afantastic effort from the lads that will finish Youth football this year and form the first Pickwick Adult Team next Season
